1When the LORD thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the LORD thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;succeedest: Heb. inheritest, or, possessest
2Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.
3Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.
4And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;in *: Heb. from yesterday the third day
5As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:head: Heb. ironhelve: Heb. woodlighteth *: Heb. findeth
6Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.slay *: Heb. smite him in lifein *: Heb. from yesterday the third day
7Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.
8And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;
9If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:
10That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
11But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:mortally: Heb. in life
12Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
13Matamu tidak akan berbelas hati kepadanya, tetapi kamu akan menghapuskan darah orang yang tidak bersalah dari kalangan orang Israel, supaya ia beroleh elok bagimu.
14Engkau tidak akan mengalihkan tanda batasan jiranmu, yang dari dahulukala telah ditentukan dalam warisanmu, yang kamu akan warisi di tanah yang TUHAN Allahmu beri kepadamu untuk dijadikan milikmu.
15Satu saksi tidak akan bangkit menentang seseorang bagi apa pun kedurjanaan, atau bagi apa pun dosa, bagi apa pun dosa yang dilakukannya: pada mulut dua saksi, atau pada mulut tiga saksi, hal itu akan dimantapkan.
16Jika seorang saksi palsu bangkit terhadap sesiapa pun untuk bersaksi menentang orang yang tidak bersalah;
17Maka kedua-dua orang itu, yang ada perselisihan di antara mereka, akan berdiri di hadapan TUHAN, di hadapan para imam dan para hakim, yang ada pada waktu itu;
18Dan para hakim akan membuat siasiatan yang teliti: dan, lihatlah, jika saksi itu seorang saksi palsu, dan telah bersaksi secara palsu menentang saudaranya;
19Maka kalian akan berbuat kepadanya, seperti yang dia telah harap untuk buat kepada saudaranya: demikianlah kamu akan menyingkirkan kejahatan itu dari kalangan kalian.
20Dan orang-orang yang tertinggal akan dengar, dan takut, dan sejak itu tidak akan lagi melakukan apa pun kejahatan demikian di antara kalian.
21Dan matamu tidak akan bersimpati; tetapi nyawa akan ganti nyawa, mata ganti mata, gigi ganti gigi, tangan ganti tangan, kaki ganti kaki.
